The current king of his discipline, McLeod is the only active sprint hurdler who can boast of both the Olympic and world titles (2016 and 2017), and with a personal best of 12.90, he may have one eye on David Oliver’s meeting record in Rabat (13.12).
Having sat out of the second half of last season due to injury, McLeod is no doubt keen to make his mark on the Road to the Final this summer.
Shubenkov, meanwhile, picked up the silver medal behind McLeod at the London World Championships in 2017, but he has outdone the Jamaican in the IAAF Diamond League in recent years, claiming the Diamond Trophy in both 2017 and 2018.
The two champions will be joined by another hurdles heavyweight in Pascal Martinot-Lagarde, who has four Diamond League meeting victories to his name.
Elsewhere, Marie-Josée Ta Lou is set to lead the field in the women’s 100m. A double world champion at London 2017, the Ivorian narrowly missed out to compatriot Murielle Ahouré in a thrilling battle for the Diamond Trophy last season.
